    Description

For its first domestic inaugural since the takeover of Western Airlines, Delta Airlines used the previous
Western Airlines hub, Salt Lake City, as the departure point for service to the ski areas associated with Gunnison,
Colorado. The Boeing 727 flight originated in Los Angeles, stopped at Salt Lake City, and continued to
    Gunnison.
Delta Airlines did not request philatelic recognition for the flight.
    This cover was one of
    only 44 pieces of mail
carried on the December 19, 1987 inaugural Delta Airlines flight from the Salt Lake City, Utah Airport Mail Facility to Gunnison, Colorado (where it was backstamped)
    and
is listed in The American Air Mail Catalogue as DL-D77Ef.
